Zoe

Zoe is a female blue and gold macaw (Ara ararauna) who hatched in October 1997.  Zoe joined our flock in May 2005.

Zoe is a funny, charming, and mischievous parrot.  She likes to con you into thinking she's about to step up, even saying "step up", then grabbing your finger and giving it a pinch if you offer your hand.  When she first arrived, she thought this was a really great game but we are finally getting smarter and have been working with her to discourage this game.

Zoe likes to spend her days in her huge macaw-sized cage, playing with her toys.  She really comes to life in the evenings when she comes out with us in the screen room and becomes much more interactive.  She has quite a voice and she enjoys singing along with music.  As you can imagine, this is pretty interesting!

Blue and gold macaws can and do talk but this talking ability can vary greatly between birds.
