| Phoebe

Phoebe is a female
painted conure (Pyrrhura picta) who hatched on September 26, 2006.
Phoebe
joined our flock in January 2007 and is buddies with
Freddie,
our female green-cheeked conure.
Phoebe is
a very sociable and outgoing bird. She loves to
explore small nooks and crannies, seeking that perfect nest
hole. We have to be careful to block off access to the
spaces around our appliances as she has been known to crawl
behind or underneath them.
Phoebe is
everyone's friend. She is very nurturing and checks in
with the other birds and us to make sure we are OK.
Along with this mothering instinct comes an element of
bossiness. She is not afraid to let us know when we
are doing something of which she does not approve by
delivering a sharp nip to an ear or a neck.

About painted conures
Painted conures belong to the
Pyrrhura
genus of conures. They are among the smaller of
the
conure species and do not tend to be as noisy as the
larger conure species.
According the experts, painted
conures tend to be a bit more laid back than the
green-cheeked conure, although they are still quite
active little birds.
They are also known to talk.
Phoebe is quite the character.
She can be very bossy at times and is unafraid of
anything. |
