| Freddie

Freddie is a female
green-cheeked conure (Pyrrhura molinae) who was hatched in March 2006.
Freddie
joined our flock in July 2006. She is our first
green-cheeked conure and we are delighted with her.
Her
personality is a great combination of sweetness and
spunkiness. She is very tame and loves to hang out
with us but she can also be a bit bossy and insistent when
she wants her way.
Like all
young conures, she spends most of her day playing and
exploring her home. She is on the go from first light
until the sun sets.
Freddie has a friend and
cage-mate named
Phoebe.
Phoebe is a conure of the Pyrrhura picta species and is also
female. Her size is very similar to that of Freddie's.

About green-cheeked conures
Green-cheeked conures belong to the
Pyrrhura
genus of conures. They are among the smaller of
the
conure species and do not tend to be as noisy as the
larger conure species.
Green-cheeks are fun birds and have
distinctive personalities. They can be quite
assertive and outgoing and can be fun family pets, with
close supervision of all interactions with children.
They are sometimes more "nippy"
than other conure species. However, their body
language is pretty clear and easy to read.
Their personalities can also be
mercurial, with changes from sweet and sunny to playful
to nippy coming within a matter of minutes.
Green-cheeks can also be good
talkers, although their little voices tend to be
squeaky.
Freddie can say about five words but
she's still quite young. |
