  Our Parrots

We share our lives with eight parrots of different shapes, sizes, sexes, ages and personalities.

To learn more about each of our fascinating companions, select a link above.

Buzz is a black-masked lovebirds (Agapornis personatus) who first came to live with Heather in 1996.

Buzz was purchased at a Denver area chain pet store and hatched in 1996.

We are not sure what sex Buzz is but he has never laid an egg so we assume that Buzz is male.

Buzz is a cheerful little bird with a great deal of personality, spunk, and bossiness.  He loves spending time with his buddy, Chili Pepper, and giving Heather "love" nips on the back of the neck.  He looks very cute and sweet but he's got an assertive personality that doesn't allow for any cuddling, except on his terms.

About lovebirds

Black-masked lovebirds are small parrots, approximately six inches in length from head to tail.

Black-masked lovebirds are native to northeast Tanzania.

Black-masked lovebirds are very energetic and curious.  They love to explore their environment and forage for food.

They play vigorously with their toys and can be aggressive around other small parrot species.

They love water and bathing and will take several baths every day if provided the opportunity.
